We had the opportunity to chat with Juan Carlos, Cafeoteca’s barista, at Kalú Restaurant. He is humble and really likes to talk, so besides enjoying a good cup of coffee, we came out with new insights and a desire to know more about the world of coffee.
Plaza Cafe does not open with the first ray of sunlight that shines over the beautiful province of Guanacaste, nor with the schedule published on the Facebook page; it opens way before dawn, when many are still asleep. Sometimes it opens from the night before, when some go to bed or out to party. Why? Because 90% of Plaza Café’s products are homemade.
If you're having breakfast with someone next to you, you are probably in love or just had a pretty good night. I love making breakfast, I find it the sexiest of all meals. I usually wake up first and breakfast comes to mind. I plan to surprise her… I know how she takes her coffee, with milk, she adores the sweet scent that comes out when it’s heating up.
One of the things that my fiancée and I enjoy the most is drinking coffee. We drink at least two cups per day. Coffee is not just a beverage or a method to stay up late at night, it's an experience. It's time to talk, laugh and watch movies together. We made this short video to share with you what it's like when we make coffee at home (or should I say when my awesome barista makes coffee and we drink it at home).
I love it not only because it tastes good; no, not good, great. I love it because along with coffee comes the stories, the laughter, the joy, sadness…the memories good and bad, but mostly good. My love affair started back in 2007 when I wasn’t in my coffee producer country, Costa Rica.
