KCFW - Have You Met...?

Every season of Kansas City Fashion Week, there are new people to meet, and old friends to catch up with. On Sunday, we attended the KCFW opening event, the Garden Party, and we got to speak with models, designers, bloggers, volunteers and staff. We loved to hear what everyone is up to! Whether you are new, and want to meet the Kansas City fashion family, or you know everyone, and just enjoy reading what they said, make sure to take a look.

KS Roadtrip: Monument Rocks

We walked around the monument for a few minutes, and then sat down to watch the sunset. The sun descended slowly, through “the needle”, an oval-shaped gap in between the rocks. The colors of the horizon as the sun sets, and the moon begins to shine taking its place, were simply beautiful. We were amazed, we were marveled, even after sunset, when everything got dark, we wanted to stay.

Moda Shoot

I would say that now, more than ever, you can truly be whatever you want to be. A fashion designer, a blogger, a model… It is no longer up to destiny to place you right in front of that café, under perfect light, at the exact time a model scout happens to walk out, and determines you are incredibly beautiful. And then comes the nostalgia, for “the good days”, for times and places that I was never in, but can’t help but admire, and wonder what life was like back then.

Nelson Atkins Fashion Show

Auro has been backstage several times, one time as a model for her own design. After the event she would tell me how it went, what she liked, and other details.  I've never stopped to think about photographing the sweet mayhem that takes place before a show. So when I went to the backstage of the Nelson-Atkins Fashion Show I kept asking myself: Now what? What do I shoot? Do I need to ask for permission? I hope I don’t get in the way of anybody or trip over a cable or something; so yes I was a bit nervous.
