Is Print Dead?

I’ve found myself caressing the paper of the book I am reading, inhaling the “new book” smell right off the inked pages. Maybe I am weird. Maybe there is a market for aromatized Kindles, but there is something about print that I do not get online

The Cozy Cardigan

On the first of January at midnight, the temperature in Columbia was -21°C; today we are at -8°C and I'm really glad that it’s “warmer”. However, it is still necessary to wear several layers of clothing and coats. One of the pieces that I have used the most this week is this Charlotte Russe cardigan that my sister gave me.

The Holidays Outfit

It’s the time of the year when Santa Baby and I’ll Be Home For Christmas are playing in every store you walk in. Inside, the warm tunes and the cinnamon scented air compete with the bright lights and colorful decorations from outside. Which scenario is more beautiful? It’s hard to tell.

KCFW-S/S '18

What are fashion shows all about? Is it the excitement that you feel when a model comes out wearing something fabulous, the anticipation for what will come out next, the desire to own those garments? I think it goes beyond deciding if what you are looking at is something that you would wear or not.

Moda Shoot

I would say that now, more than ever, you can truly be whatever you want to be. A fashion designer, a blogger, a model… It is no longer up to destiny to place you right in front of that café, under perfect light, at the exact time a model scout happens to walk out, and determines you are incredibly beautiful. No, now we have countless model agencies, social media, networking events. People actually have a shot at carving their own destiny.

Back in time

I usually think more of the future, than I do of the past. The future is filled with possibilities, dreams, paths that can lead anywhere. However, the past comes up sometimes, and I have to admit, it is a comfortable place… childhood laughter and games, stories with known endings, certainty. And then comes the nostalgia, for “the good days”, for times and places that I was never in, but can’t help but admire, and wonder what life was like back then.

Nelson Atkins Fashion Show

Auro has been backstage several times, one time as a model for her own design. After the event she would tell me how it went, what she liked, and other details.  I've never stopped to think about photographing the sweet mayhem that takes place before a show. So when I went to the backstage of the Nelson-Atkins Fashion Show I kept asking myself: Now what? What do I shoot? Do I need to ask for permission? I hope I don’t get in the way of anybody or trip over a cable or something; so yes I was a bit nervous.

KCFW - Bubbly+Bowties

Will and I were pretty exited about attending the KCFW Bubbles and Bow Ties. It was the perfect occasion to get all dressed up and fancy. We headed to West Bottoms, Kansas City, where the venue, R24 Studios, is located. R24 is an artisan crafted luxury furniture store, and yes, we actually sat on art work (Marshall @ HIMYM). After being greeted at the door, we waited in line for the first set of pictures as the music played upstairs on the third floor.

Plan. Dream. Live.

Plans. Plans give meaning to our lives; they give us something to look forward to. They make those long hours at work worth it. Will and I have been making plans for our near future and I couldn’t be more excited. The trick when you plan is that you also have to learn to appreciate the beauty of what life gives you. Be spontaneous, and don’t freak out if something deviates a little from the path you’ve carefully prepared.
