Back in time

Back in time

I usually think more of the future, than I do of the past. The future is filled with possibilities, dreams, paths that can lead anywhere. However, the past comes up sometimes, and I have to admit, it is a comfortable place… childhood laughter and games, stories with known endings, certainty. And then comes the nostalgia, for “the good days”, for times and places that I was never in, but can’t help but admire, and wonder what life was like back then.

As I walk downtown in Kansas City, I stop to gaze at the architecture, the signs, the grafitti. Everything here is new to me, I look at this mixture of old and modern buildings with fresh eyes.

I think of what the city was like 80 or 90 years ago. The trains, old cars, fountains, the city under the moonlight… I am sure it was beautiful, it still is.

This post is a celebration of the past, of Kansas City jazz, of fashion, and the Garment District, of all those untold love stories. As a foreigner, I love this place, and I love where I come from too. And after all of these reminiscence of past times, I am left with the thought that many years from today, someone will think the same of the place and time where each one of us is now. Remember your past, dream of your future, but enjoy every minute of your present.
